Having experienced many establishments in the city we were deeply disappointed in our experience at Maccabees on Saturday, 2-17. The service was slow, and inattentive. We arrived and were seated at 5:40 PM and food did not arrive at the table until after 7:00 PM. The waiter assured us that he understood the dietary needs of our table, did not write down any of the orders and as a result made critical mistakes. Maccabees Traders was not awesome for brunch this past Sunday. Chicken was refried in front of customers after the chef heard complaints and a staff member informed my party that they would not eat the brunch. They fruit was good, the shrimp and grits were tasty, but overall the brunch was not pleasing.
I called ahead when I saw that a transition was going on to see if my group of 9 would be ok to stop here before the Academy Award nominated shorts at the DFT - David assured me that the service issues were being addressed and that the changeover was going really well - don't believe it ! They were horrible! Food, Service, Atmosphere.....The PERFECT combination!!!
I was there for the first time for Sunday Brunch and was EXTREMELY disappointed with my dining experience at this restaurant. The food was exceptional and the service was subpar at best. No one offered us water or anything to drink. Val was the server to assist at our table due to the original server taking ill. I'm privy to this information because Val explained to our table that it wasn't hers to take care of.
