I have never been to the original one but yesterday was my first time in what is the new restaurant and I thought the food was very good, prepared well and outstanding service. The owner or manager was very attententive and even gave our party of 4 free desert for sweetest Day.
The venue, food, and staff were AMAZING. We had a party of about 15 that came in gradually and they were able to accommodate us. The owner actually helped to bust a table and then came back multiple times to check and make sure we were well. The waitress never let our party have an empty glass and was beyond amazing. Definitely the new brunch spot.
Too bad Maccabees is no more. Server was uninformed, menu was unimaginative, food was lackluster. When the calamari was served sans any type of sauce (and even a lemon wedge), server said it doesn't come with any. Five minutes later, a "spicy, tomato garlic sauce" arrives. "It was sitting in the window." It didn't help the rubbery dish. The salumi, what should have been an Italian charcuterie, came with two, count 'em two, tiny slices of toasted bread.
