This place is operated by relatives and friends of Louisiana Orphan Train Riders and we do it for free! We share the history of our relatives and their beginnings and throughout their life! For too long this was not talked about but now we are their voices! We are not ashamed of our history and it is past time that their stories are told! We would love for you to come in and visit when you are in the area! It is like being embraced by long lost family members, and being from Cajun country, we never meet strangers!! Who’s you... read more

It is very educational and wish I would have had more time to read about all the orphans who came on the train

Very interesting history. Unbelievable what those children had to endure and what people did to help them.

I loved our visit to the Orphan Train Museum in Opelousas. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a direct descendant to one of the orphans that arrived on the train. Besides the many stories we heard from the tour guide, there were many pictures and artifacts to view. The history of these children is both very heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Great history and story about those that came to Louisiana via New York to start their new lives. Highly recommended.
