I had ACL surgery and thought Dr. Almekinders was great. I didn't find him to be arrogant. He took the time to answer all of my questions and I came away feeling like he really knew what he was doing. 9 months later, my knee feels great. If I tear anything else, he'll be the person I go to.
Terrible surgeon. Left with severe nerve damage after surgery that I did not have before surgery and was unnecessary. Other than being a bad surgeon, he seemed like a nice person. But I would rather have a good surgeon than a nice person.
Dr. Almekinders is part of the Duke Health System in Durham, not Chapel Hill. He left UNC several years ago to go to Duke.
