Wide selection of hardware needs Though this store looks small, it carries a little of everything. Its not too often that the helpful staff cannot find an item that I have wanted. They've even special ordered items for us with pretty quick delivery.
Sold the item held for me to a higher bidder! I asked them to hold a blue wheelbarrow for 24 hours and they agreed. I showed up with a pickup truck borrowed from my brother within 18 hours only to be told that only red wheelbarrows were left because my wheelbarrow was sold to a customer who gave them $10 more than their asking price. Now you would expect them to be apologetic and try to work something out for me. No! No apologies, didn't try to get me a blue one ASAP, and didn't offer to give me a discount on a red one. Local Hardware This is a great local hardware store in Los Altos. Henry, the owner is awsome. I always get the attention I need, and the staff is always willing to go out of their way to help.
Any hardware need Although you may pay alittle more at the Los Altos Hardware store, the service is outstanding with respect to finding what you need and/or explaining to you what you might need based on the problem you are having. It is definitely the place to go if you do not like the lack of assistance at the chain stores.
Great place for everyday needs Los Altos True Value is definitely not a big "warehouse" store -- you're not going to find a huge selection of items, particularly for more specialized needs (for example, I learned that they don't carry cabinetry, shelving, or associated hardware). But on the other hand, *unlike* the big warehouse stores, the employees are always at hand to help you find the right products. Overall, it's a great "neighborhood" hardware store.
