Cup of heaven was awesome. Those cheesy potatoes are the best! We always stop in when we are in town.
I was a customer of Lonnie Q's for the first time on July 3rd (took the plunge based on word of mouth). I picked up 15 lbs of pulled pork I had pre-ordered for a family party. It was packaged neatly and securely. Lon took time to be courteous and friendly, showing me the best way to warm the meat to serve to my guests. He spent time with me at the counter and encouraged me to taste test the other options of meats and sides since I'd never been there before. Best BBQ I have found on the Road. Turkey had flavor out of this world. Lonnie is a gracious host and the whole place make you feel like your with family. No big frills, all the attention goes to making some of the best BBQ on the planet.
This place is amazing. I was told KC Joes is too dog around here but then I heard about Lonnie Q as well. It's close but I feel Lonnie takes the lead!
We ate there Friday night. Had the Q cup. (Called the cup of heaven) 3 meats baked beans and cheesy potatoes. Very good most definitely will go back.
Let's start with what was good: the service. Next comes what was fair: the cheesy taters. What was mediocre: all three meats, not including the ribs; these were lacking in interesting flavor of any sort. What was not good: the ribs; these had a strange flavor that reminded me of the smell of shavings from a grill that was overdue for a cleaning; also the meat had a lot a gristle and did not come off of the bone nicely.
