This wonderful log mansion restaurant is located in scenic Millcreek Canyon. The view is almost as good as the food. Dine outdoors in the summer months or by firelight in the winter. The menu includes Achiote grilled calamari, pan seared sea bass with toasted corianderand grilled bison, but does not exclude the vegetarian diners. Vegetarian dishes include wild aragula and risotto, that delight the palate. Wine and cocktails are also available.

IT ALL DEPENDS – I have snacked at fine and not so fine eateries all over N.America.More than any place I've ever eaten it does depend on the time of day, season, where you are seated and the wait person you enjoy or endure. The food is far better than average for UT,a place where the the most popular eatery is a chain I call CHOKARAMA.There are fewer gourmet types in all of UT than at South beach, for example. The Log' food has always been worth any irritation. The right season does beg you to enjoy the wonders of nature. If you a... read more
Best location! – The drive up the canyon to the restaurant sets the tone for a "getaway" dinner. Good food, can be very romantic.
downhill – while log haven is stunningly beautiful, i think the food has gone down hill. For the prices charged, the flavors should be better!
WAY OVERRATED!!!! – I, too, agree with the other review...in thinking that all of the good ratings must be from the owners of this restaurant. As we ordered, the waitress appologized for the size everything was going to be when we received it. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS! And the menu choices where awful, definitely not for the average diner. There was nothing on the menu that was 'normal'. I ordered a diet coke...it took forever to get a refill and then to find out they charged me for both drinks. Not very classy. I will not... read more
Talked up a little to much – My experiance to the Log Haven was not very good. The service was like something i would expect at Denny's but not at a so called elegant dining establishment. Overall the service was poor, the selection was slim to none and the food was very poor. The pasta i had was like something you would get out of a tv dinner. It was actually some of the worst i have had, it was very very dry. The setting i would have to say was the only decent part of the night. The trees were snow covered, icicle's were h... read more
Satisfying – Log Haven has delicious complex flavors and a fine menu. I ordered the filet mignon. Unfortunately I did have to send it back since I ordered it medium rare, and it came well done. The waitress handled the situation beutifully through. The crab cakes were well prepared, and the bread pudding was absolutely to DIE for. I highly recommend Log Haven.
ROMANTIC! – We celebrated our anniversary here this year! What a wonderful place! We ate outside and I would highly recommend it if the weather is nice. The grounds are beautiful and the sound of the water nearby is very relaxing and peaceful. The food was outstanding! Wonderful soup and salad as well as dessert! We had the steak and tuna! A bit expensive, but for what you get (including service), it is well worth it!
SL is in trouble – This is a great place to dine, shows peoples mentality to nominate Sizzler, Tuccis, and Buco de crappo. I bet the Chef actually speaks English and graduated from high school, along with working hard at some culinary schools. The owners have put some very hard work in seleting the menu, working on the facility, and training the staff. Job very well done Log Haven!
Best Unique Menu in SLC! – Last night (Aug.19.02) my wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at the Log-Haven (at least that was "part" of the celebration <g>) The food was unique, well crafted, and absolutely delicious. We started with the Prawn appetizer, both had spinach salads, she had the lamb, and I had the seared tuna. Everything was superbly prepared. The only negatives were that the prawns in the appetizer were more like 35-40 count shrimp and there were only 4 and the bacon on the salad was a whole strip of baco... read more
