The menu includes Achiote grilled calamari, pan seared sea bass with toasted corianderand grilled bison, but does not exclude the vegetarian diners. Overrated, overpricerd – Last Saturday, March 1st, 2008, I celebrated my thirtieth birthday by dining at Log Haven. Prior to this meal, I had read many favorable reviews of thisrestaurant and was very eager to try it. Let me start by saying, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. Our server, who proclaimed on multiple occasions, ?I?m a professional,? was anything but. We ordered mussels which smelled so awful they should have never left the kitchen. When we brought this to our server?s attention, we had to argue ... read more
Two strikes and your out. – After much prodding by friends I tried Log Haven 5 years ago. The service was terrible and the food was less than thrilling. After hearing from friend that the service had improved and the food was great I decided to try it again. With an open mind I gave it a try. This time the service was slightly better. Atleast the waitress did not insult us this time. The food however had not improved. The concepts were interesting but the execution was poor. The sauces were not tight and flavorful. They eith... read more
Perfect Gourmet Food in the Wilderness – Ate here last week and was wowed! The food was terrific including the free beginning taste from the chef. The server was professional and very knowledgeable and let us dine at our leisure...no rush out to turn the table here. We sat by the fireplace and took a walk around the grounds to enjoy the waterfall and the enormous icicles. I would love to come back here in the summer and dine outdoors. This was like a min-vacation just a few minutes away from downtown Salt Lake City. I will r... read more
Always stellar – I am a frequent diner at this restaurant - I bring colleagues to Log Haven every month. For my last visit I had invited several friends and ended up with a party of eleven. There was high energy throughout the entire table due to the expert handling of the server, Jack and the management. We tried five appetizers - that included the kobe beef, calamari, mushrooms, duck confit and the halibut cheek. They were incredible - my personal favorite was the halibut cheek - melt in your mouth fish with saffron risott... read more
Overrated, bland, small portioned, and over priced. – Much of the reviews I have read regarding this restaurant lead me to believe that either they are fake or I came on a VERY bad day. The fact that the day I am speaking in reference to was Easter Sunday would lead me to believe that they would put their best foot forward. I will say the only two things I did enjoy about the restaurant was the beautiful area it was located in and the pleasant service. However when one decides to eat out for Easter or any other night for tha... read more
Lush pines, sparkling waterfalls and savory cuisine make dining in this romantic setting a complete sensory experience. – In Short This 1920s log home is set in a serene mountain setting among beautifully tended grounds. A crackling fire warms the dining room in the winter, while the patio beckons in warmer months. Its seasonal menus include dishes ranging from steak and duck to gnocchi and fusion appetizers. Presentations are artistic enough to stop conversation.
Terrific All Around – Two colleagues and I went here for a business meeting and had a terrific meal. The service was understated and exemplary, the food was extremely well prepared (our goat cheese appetizer was really superb) and the setting couldn't have been better. There aren't many restaurants that can equal Log Haven.
Change of mind.... – I wrote a review of Log Haven, posted several posts below. After several years, I opted to try it again for Mother's Day. My opinion of this establishment has changed entirely! From the moment we walked in and they accomodated my elderly mother to a fairly close table, to the point where the valet delivered our car with meticulous timing, I could not fault anything. My flatiron steak with goat cheese tamale was scrumptious and the banana cream pie to die for. I do believe my previous encounter was an abe... read more
Beautiful Location for Special Occasions – Log Haven features wonderful food with a beautiful location. The menu changes and is always delicious, but it is not as good as some other restaurants as far as menu items are concerned. Go for the atmosphere--I was seated by the fire, and it made for a very romantic evening. The Oaxacan Cheese appetizer (not on the menu right now) was incredible, and I'm sad they removed it. Overall, the food is good enough to merit the prices, but it won't take your breath away.
