They make the same mistakes with the same patient over and over and over again. That is the definition of insanity. The only reason to go here is if you absolutely need to have your cancer treatment (chemo) done in Lawrence because you cannot travel elsewhere. If you are going to KU Med anyway, have everything done there. The Oncologist at LMH is not needed. They are just making money off of your cancer without adding any additional value. The KU Med surgeon can typically do it all.

I called no less than 5 times to try to get connected to a nurse navigator. I was continuously told they would call me back that afternoon. The afternoon came and no phone call. Then I was told the nurse navigator I was paired with was on vacation so a new nurse navigator would need to time to review my chart. I got a phone call saying I was told they would ONLY accept referrals from primary care offices. My referral came from the Emergency Department. Dr Luke Huerter told me that my cancer was inoperable incurable and I would be dead in two years. He was cold and condescending. Needless to say I got a second opinion and here I am two years later. I had surgery to remove the tumor and continued treatment and I am now cancer free. He gave me no hope and was clueless on how to help me. I am an African American woman so it may have been that he felt that I wasn't worth saving. He was wrong in every way.
