There is something for everyone in Little Buffalo State Park. Spread across 923 acres (374 hectares), it is place teeming with nature and history. Established in 1972, it is named after the stream that runs through the park. Check out historic sites such as Blue Ball Tavern, Shoaff's Mill and Clays Covered Bridge. Besides the Holman Lake, there is a huge swimming pool with slides and a spray-ground. Though you can't swim in the lake, you can boat, fish and kayak. So lucky to have Little Buffalo in my back yard. Hiked the Middle Ridge Trail with my dog yesterday morning. Wow...quite a workout. Two very steep climbs. I'm ready to do it again. The Rangers are friendly (they wave and acknowledge you). A beautiful park!
Honestly... I love this place. Drove 1.5 hours and think it's a fantastic facility but both times we have made the trip someone has pooped and puked in the pool which shut it down both times for over an hour! We asked the lifeguard how often this type of thing happens and her response was "Almost everyday." Sad that people can't have enough common sense to know when they need to use the restroom! WHEN IN DOUBT, GET OUT!!
Beautiful place to visit but the pool is attracting people that crap in the water. We left last Sunday because of it. I won't swim there again. Wasn't like that years ago. I took the girls there plenty of times with no problem. It's bad when you have to hang signs telling people not to do this.
My children an now grandchildren get to experience all the fun and beauty of this wonderful place!
If you have kids there is hardly anything to do here! Pool is to expensive and crowded and hard to enjoy yourself when the lifeguards are constantly blowing whistles! No playground area at the actual small camping area, which is located on a hill! Not impressed and will not be back!
