New Restaurant Needs to Iron Out Kinks- Not Recommended For the prices they charge, I normally expect more creativity from the menu. Specifically- the lobster bisque was watery, and the pork consisted of a large layer of fat. The crab cake was delicious as was the rib eye. Very inconsistent! The service was adequate but not friendly. The decor was bland. I would give them another chance six months later since they are a new restaurant, but not until then.

Avoid it! Overpriced, mediocre food. – For $130 for dinner for two, go downtown instead. The food is very mediocre; Lineage does not compete with the more upscale restaurants downtown in the same price range. Make your reservations elsewhere!

Best in Brookline – We dined at Lineage and had an outstanding meal. We tried the cod cheeks -interesting use of the wood fire stove. Delicious scallops and steak. Excellent service. Nice selection of wines. The Butterscotch Pudding was suggested for dessert and it was out of this world.

Service 101: BUY IT – First time I went to Lineage it was great. They had first opened and it was a good all around experience. Second time was a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mine and I went online to find restaurant hours because we wanted a late dinner. I live about 3 blocks away. By the time we got there is was a good half-hour before posted hours said the kitchen was closing. Upon walking in, the bartender informs us from across the room that "we are closing early tonight. Sorry!" with a stupid grin on her face that ... read more

Excellent Food, Zero Ambiance. – I arrived at about 5:10 on a Tuesday, with no reservation. There was one couple at a table, and another couple arrived at the same time as I. I was greeted with "Are you here for dinner?" which I thought was a bit strange. Ambiance was attempting "stark modern," but lacked lighting, color, seating design or anything else to give it the drama "stark" needs. On the other hand, I went for the food, and it was excellent... starting with a perfect vodka martini ("Lineage Martini") with a curly twi... read more

Make a reservation, definitely go for the appetizers and leave room for dessert! – My husband and I went there for a romantic dinner, and were not disappointed! We were seated almost immediately (with a reservation) and got great service all night. The appetizers were divine. We tried the lobster and sausage plate (sounds strange, but this is no ordinary sausage. I *loved* it.) and the oyster plate (best I've ever had). My scallop entree was quite good, maybe a little too hearty for the warm night we visited. The highlight o... read more

Lineage is one of a kind!!! – My friends and I are frequent diners at Lineage and our visits to this restaurant are never less than fabulous so I decided to show them some support. Their food is absolutely amazing and the service is impeccable, everytime! The food and wine is upscale and delicious, but with unexpectedly low prices. Also, the servers are different than the servers at most restaurants because they are not snobby, but instead are friendly and informative. Futhermore, their menu changes daily so we always have v... read more

Bad Food + Bad Service = Lineage – The night started off poorly when we were not seated for over 40 minutes after our reservation, and the hostess seemed to take exception to our inquiries regarding when we would be seated. The bread looked fantastic, but our waiter forgot to bring us any until we requested it well after our appetizers had reached the table. Although we were seated by 8:30, they were already out of several menu items. Three orders of fish (halibut, swordfish, and scallops) were all overcooked and the pumpkin... read more

Excellent Value for Great Food! – My fiance and I went to Lineage after reading some rave reviews in various Boston publications and the food lived up to my expectations! I had an excellent corn soup with really tasty "beignets"; a nice juxtaposition of sweet (corn) and salty (beignets) food. The roasted chicken was fantastic, both tender and flavorful. Contrary to some of the reviews on Citysearch, the service that night was good. Our waitress was very friendly and everything arrived according to what we ordered. The only d... read more
