Northern Italian taken up a notch! – I'm really surprised at some of the bad reviews of Lidia's unless the people who went there are expecting all of their food drowned in tomato sauce and have never had Northern Italian food! This was one of my top 3 best meals and dining experiences I've ever had, we were seated promptly inspite of a packed house, our waitstaff were friendly and helpful without any attitude whatsoever. Every dish we had was cooked to perfection and served beautifully, from appetizer to salad to main course... read more
paid too much for mcdonalds type food – after hearing many great reviews of this restaurant, my family and i attended. disappointing doesn't even come close. the food was awful, the service shockingly unprofessional and the price outrageous. They sure act like they are better than anything else, but i would have been better off having one of those salads you shake yourself from mcdonalds! Avoid this place
A very nice dining experience – My daughter and I recently had dinner at Lidia's for the first time, and it will not be the last. Wonderful wine, great food and the atmosphere was comfortable. Our server, Ashley, was extremely accomodating and knowledgeable and was right on the mark with dinner suggestions. We had the Italian Trio. So Good! We also had so much fun with our wine selections and again received great recommondations. We both agree that Lidia's is a must try when you're in Pittsburgh!
The worst dining in Pittsburgh – If you are looking for a nice, tasty Italian dinner with ambiance and friendly waitstaff, you will be sadly disappointed with Lidia's on the strip. Recently, my family and I chose Lidia's as the location to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday, and it was perhaps the worst decision we could have made. First, we were a 12 top, and although reservations had been made, they were not ready for our table (scheduled at 5:00, their earliest dining time). Once we were seated, the experience declined from... read more
Real Italian!!! – Lidia's is not the Italian restaurant that most Pittsburghers would imagine. Her food is authentic Italian and comes in generous portion sizes. The only bad things I would point out is that it is somewhat loud for good conversation and the women in my party were all freezing. The wait staff was attentive but unrefined, I felt like everyone was fairly new. In the end they were all working hard and any true Pittsburgher can appreciate that! I ordered the grilled octopus as my starter and it was more tender th... read more
Great Italian! – The dining experience at Lidia's was the best italian I've encountered in Pittsburgh. I had the homemade pear and cheese ravioli, which was part of the pasta sampler & they were exceptional! Our server Jack was pleasant and when we inquired about wine, Mr. Conley confidently suggested a bottle of Italian Pinot Noir, which he believed would compliment all of our meals. He was professional and pleasant. We were celebrating an anniversary and he sent out a Tiramisu on a special chocolate inscribed plate. We wil... read more
Mix of good and bad, still worth a visit – I've been to Lidia's for both brunch and dinner. It has large portions of food that's more interesting than the average spaghetti-and-meatballs-type Italian restaurant, but it's a wee bit pricey for what it is and nowhere near as good as Felidia's in New York. The restaurant itself is pretty, bright and colorful. Some of the food is excellent (manicotti with spinach and mushrooms, and the pork shank), but some of it is bland or just off. For example, the salmon with lentils had no s... read more
Eating at Lidia's Table – What a fabulous experience! It was like eating at Lidia's table. The staff were so friendly and explained everything carefully. The three pasta were so light and full of flavor I almost wondered if Lidia was in the kitchen herself. The food is true Italian, the portions perfect and what a gorgeous space. I can not think of a better place to eat in all of Pittsburgh.
What a bogus excuse for decent Italian dining. – I have read some other reviews and have to say I disagree with them all except the "bland food". This place is not upscale. They think they are upscale by attitude alone, but Lidia's is a posers paradise. Remember to wear your most expensive suit, for if you do not, be prepared to be seated in the back with dim lighting. On top of the "I'm better than you attitude", the food stinks and the menu is light. A very sorry excuse for a chain. We live in the Burgh-go out to a nice et... read more
