The saving grace to this restaurant is the staff, they are awesome. For $50 a plate I was hoping for better quality steaks, but that just wasn't the case. Bread and cheese fondu was awesome. My salad was great. Hubby had the chicken noodle soup, he said it was ok. Main course was lackluster, fondu on the baked potato made it better. The steaks just weren't to par for whar they should be. This place has serious potential just need to up that beef game.
I had higher expectations, but it wasn’t bad nor was it the best. If you are craving a steak it would definitely satisfy that craving, but the fondue was mediocre and the veggies tasted frozen. The waitstaff were great, but forgot the coffee I ordered with dessert. The apple pie was ok.
That was the worst meal I have ever had in my life. ^^^^ Not an exaggeration ^^^^ Allow me to explain. My declaration is based on both quality and value. I knew walking over to Nel's that I was about to pay upper-mid-shelf steakhouse prices for dinner. $80+ per plate. That's what I wanted. I was warned, actually, by our server. When I interrogated him about the basics of the beef on offer (wet/dry age, length of aging), he cut me off to say, "It's choice. We serve choice beef." AMAZING PLACE!!!! My wife and I went there for our anniversary dinner and had the most amazing time ever. Gary was our waiter and is also the manager of the place and he made sure that we were well taken care of for our time with him. Service is above and Beyond and they really care about those who walk through their doors. Even though it is off the beaten path, I highly recommend this to anyone looking to have a fabulous meal, great atmosphere and excellent service.
