I went to her for fibromyalgia and she apparently believes that all fibromyalgia is caused by Lyme disease. I spent a fortune on all her testing, most of it denied by my insurance as being considered experimental. She may be good for other diseases, but don't go to her for fibromyalgia. You don't need antibiotics for fibromyalgia and in fact it makes it worse. I found out after the fact that she is not very well respected by a lot of the doctors in the area b/c she thinks everyone has Lyme disease. While she is controversial... read more
This doctor is absolutely THE best! I've had bad RA for 20yrs and have seen her for over 10yrs. Her staff was sometimes a pain, but now she's got a great group. There is no cure for arthritis, but she's constantly in persuit to find the source. Each individual is different, and each individual is complex so there's no cookie cutter approach. It all starts with a lot of lab work and a lot of outside the box thinking. Just one exellent example: She had a strong hunch that some of her patients were carrying infections in our gu... read more
Dr Z is very thorough and is one of only a few (if not the only doctor) in the area that is willing to treat people with long-term antibiotics. I have a Mycoplasma infection and over time she has gotten it under control. The issues I have are that there are some really ridiculous rules around phoning results and the fact that you have to come in for every little thing, which is very expensive. Also, you have to see a nurse half the time, which is ridiculous. In summary, if you need to be treated long-term go to her otherwise... read more
Prescribed many medications at same time to take over a 3 year period, including antibiotics for 3 years. Didn't like me to follow my internist insturctions over hers. Office staff unfriendly. Very difficult to get a call through for Rx refills or to speak to the doctor.
I used to see Dr. Zackrison and was mainly pleased with her. I have a complicated medical history and she was very helpful in looking for a diagnosis. She eventually found several and started me on several treatments which indeed helped. She was also helpful with anything new that popped up. She always did extensive blood work to try to get to the root of the cause. The only problem I had with her was one of my diagnosises that several other doctors felt I had she did not. This diagnosis was not in her speciality but she was... read more
Dr. Z., as I call her, is an angel on earth! She worked tediously to discover what kind of arthritis I had, whereas another doctor in DC told me I had "lupus, and to not worry about it." In her thorough process, she uncovered that I actually discovered that I had stage 2 lymphoma and wrote the appropriate referrals. If I had listened to my forst rheumie, and "not worried about it," I would have been dead from cancer. She treats me now and we have my RA under control to where it isn't advancing. Yes, she does require extensiv... read more
She is treating me for chronic Lyme; and she is a miracle worker.
She's expensive. But she is the best doctor I've come across. If you're sick, have arthritis, bad bones, hormone issues, stystemic digestive problems, she's fighting to find the cause & cure. I can't say enough good things about her.
