Good food, good atmosphere – Like another reviewer, I REALLY want to like this place. It's close to home and a perfect spot for a glass of wine and small dishes. We've been there twice now and both times have been extremely unimpressed with the waiter service. We've tried the mussels (great), goat cheese salad (yuck), special dumplings (awesome), escargot (good), pork confit (salty but good). Once we tried the shrimp but deemed them too fishy and returned them. We were pleasently surprised when that item was taken off our bi... read more
YUM!! – I love this restaurant. Great for a romantic date or a good I-love-myself day. Great food. "The best foie gras ever!" and I'm not the only one who has offered up that statement. Great wine selection and LOTS of good to great wines available by the glass! How often does that happen? The asparagus in morell cream sauce is amazing. It is SO good. And it's open ALL day with food and really strong coffee. Did I mention the desserts?
Good - but not up to par – I anticipated a great meal from Le Zinc after seeing the wonderful decor of the place. Unfortunately, the service was the beginning to a fair evening of dining, for such a high price. The waiter failed to bring drinks for an extended period of time, and rarely checked on how we were doing with our meal. The apple tart dessert was extremely overpowered by an alcohol taste, and even after expressing my satisfaction with the main portion of the fixed price menu, I was still charged for a dessert that ... read more
My Favorite!! – This is my favorite local restaurant, French or otherwise. The breakfast is delicious, the French toast a must try! The wine selection is insightful and surprising. All the food is made to order with the freshest elements, apparently ordered daily. Also, the French fries are hand cut, only a few S.F. restaurants do that. The desserts, exquisite, all house made including the icecream and the chocolate is made from scratch with the finest imported cocoa. Finally the ambience is very upbeat, hip and cozy. As som... read more
Secret treasure in Noe – This place is amazing, I go there at least twice a month. Every time, the food is excellent, the service is outstanding. Dinner, brunch, lunch, you can't go wrong here. It is hands down my favorite restaurant in San Francisco
Very over rated! – Went here for lunch alone right after new years. Was totally ignored by waitress. The hostess took my order! Orderedthe warm goat cheese salad, simply not good at all - the cheese was some sort of mystery cheese, very weird taste. I"m a goat cheese fanatic! I have no problem with spending money but this salad was pricey for what I got. They might offer bread but I . . . the solo woman . .. didn't get one. Had apple cider, very nice, but for $4.50 a glass? It wasn't that good! The waitress completely ignore... read more
great ambience, mediocre food – I've been to Le Zinc both for lunch and dinner. I wanted so much to love the place, as I love the atmosphere. Reminds me of little cafes in Paris. Plus, they have a prix fixe dinner menu (soup, salad, entree, dessert) for $29.95. While the service was fine (a little slow but friendly), the food at our 4-person table was decidedly mediocre. The sauces that accompanied our dishes just didn't match the meat/fish and anything seafood tasted really fishy. I wanted to try this place once because the... read more
A bit pricey but delicious – My boyfriend and I were a bit apprehensive about going to Le Zinc after the negative editorial review but since we had gift certs, there was really nothing to lose. I must say the meal was delicious. We shared a scallop salad that was incredible, a halibut with a bulgar rice that had this indescribable sauce and a lamb that melted in your mouth. The final bill was a bit more than we would have usually paid for dinner but it was a great food experience. The service was friendly but a bit slow mayb... read more
