Rustic French fare pleases the clean-cut Noe Valley crowd at this popular bistro. – In Short Le Zinc achieves a very Parisian balance between sophisticated and casual, one that lends itself equally well to stopping in for a cafe au lait or a romantic tête-à-tête over dinner. The pretty bar, gilt-framed mirror, even the tile floors conspire to convey a soothing Euro bistro feel and subtly golden lighting seals the deal. Artfully presented and creatively accented, the mid-priced French fare is a good value.

Horrible customer service – I've been here twice. The first time was two years ago when it was unimpressive. Last Friday, my husband and another couple went and were horrified with their service. 1) We had a reservation for 8pm and they didn't seat us until 8:40pm. The hostess didn't acknowledge us until we looked for her. Then, she disappeared for twenty minutes to the back. When we waited at the bar, she told us that we were in the way and escorted us to the cold and cramped front door area. 2) We ordered a bottle of wine ... read more

Perfect romantic ambiance and great food – I ate here last wednesday and just couldn't stop raving about it the last few days to anyone who would listen. This small, tucked away french bistro in Noe Valley could easily be found in Nice or Bordeaux. The pictures on citysearch really don't give it justice. The inside is very inviting, with it's low candlelight and french decor and music. It's a perfect place to "wow" a date. I loved everything from the wine, the complementary starters, and the food. The service was mediocre, b... read more

Great place, good food, AWFUL service. – The interior is simply wonderful. The wine list has character and variety, as does the food. The service was awful. The waiter forgot to bring dishes we ordered, brought us dishes we didn't order, seemed agitated and aloof when we pointed this out, and we kept having to ask for bread. In short, we had salad, then soup, followed by an entree, and then one of the appetizers we ordered. The kicker: there was no pen included in the billfold when it came time to sign the check. That just a... read more

Wonderful ambience and great food – I have been avoiding eating here for years because I was rubbed the wrong way by an experience when they first opened. I finally made it in again for dinner last night and was thrilled. The whole experience was one of the best eating experiences I have had. The 3 course pre-set menu was great (cous cous salad, salmon with vanilla sauce and creme brulee). Very original and tasty! I also enjoyed the wine flights. We came in at 7:45 and they were closing at 8..but we never felt rushed. We wil... read more

Fantastic food and great ambiance! – We had our first experience at Le Zinc this past week and it was simply wonderful. The place was unpretentious but good, from the waitress to the food and to the decor. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended for people who are looking for fresh French food without all of the fuss. It is going on our list of favorite restaurants in the City!

They have the WORST Service Ever!!! – Do Not go to this restaurant. Even though the food is good, the service is atrocious for the price point. I am a hiring manager for a very sucessful catering firm and I know the difference between good and bad service. I have never walked out on a tab, but I was inches from leaving after being ignored by my waitress for over an hour. All me and my friend ordered was 2 glasses of wine, 2 apps, and a salad. Our plan was to order more, but we were starving and wanted to get a few things goi... read more

Great Breakfast place. – Good place for breakfast on the week-ends. I love the egg dishes and brunch items are great. Indulge and get the set price item $19.00 you get a whole breakfast. I come most Saturdays. Nice place to enjoy your week-end brunch.

It's open all the time – Where else in Noe Valley can you sit outside pretty much any time of day or night and get something tasty to eat? My favorite thing is the wine available by the carafe in the most amazing decanters... Food is average bisro fare. Wish there were a little more innovation or daily specials. As someone who's eaten here over 15 times, (sunny day- sit outside and nosh) I'm worn out from the menu! Still the Niscois (sp) salad is good but ask them to barely sear the tuna or it will be served overcooked. Sit ... read more
