Dr. Benson was helpful to treat my ankle injury. Easy access to the clinic and the staff made me feel welcomed with all of the COVID stuff going on.

I am still in a wheelchair after 7 months and 2 surgeries by Berson!. I went to him for surgery to implant hardware for a severe ankle/femur break. I ended up with hardware that somehow got staph it inside of me!!!. I had a wound open up down to my bone!!!!. It took months of IV antibiotics and going in and out of the hospital to close my wound!!!. The scars I have look like a severe BURN victim!!!. My foot hurts just about all the time!!!. Severely at times.... and I still can not walk normally yet!!!. Doctor Berson has not... read more

Profound indifference to surgical complications after ankle fusion. Over-Rx'ed major opiolds instead of checking the incision. PA applied unwrapped, dirty gauze under a cast so tight soft tissue was damaged. Failed to diagnose infection for weeks. Threatened to drop me if I retained infectious disease specialist who disagreed with him. Failed to respond to written request for family meeting recommended by hospital president. Now face possible foot amputation if infection returns.

I would never recommend Dr. Berson. He did a surgery to my large toe and my second toe. He was suppose to make it so that I could bend my large toe without pain, it is no longer able to bend, and I am in a great deal of pain. My second toe was moved over, it did not heal properly because of the way he pinned it, and it's up off the ground, it's not even touching the ground now. I have really bad arthritis and i am much worse off.

I wouldn’t ever recommend Dr Berson to anyone. He performed two surgeries on my ankle and after the second surgery I was in a lot of pain and he did not do anything to help me for four months. An mri was performed and all I was told was it was very inflamed. I was a 16 year old and he treated me like a child. Do not go to dr. Berson

I had bilateral chielectomies of both great toes completed by Dr. Berson for moderate Hallux Rigidus. My left foot has not done well. I went for a second opinion and was told I may still be having trouble because a large spur was left behind and the joint surface was shaved unevenly with a step off created. I may need to have another chielectomy to correct this surgery or a fusion. This has severely impacted my ability to walk and do stairs.

Dr. Berson replaced my ankle, it turned out terrible. He obviously didn't properly prepare for my surgery and put in an implant that was too big for my body. This caused bone ulcers and the implant was loose. Dr. Berson reluctantly admitted the hardware was too big for my bones, 7 months post surgery. I was treated like I was neg by him and PT. He offered to go back in and cut more bone. Needless to say, I fired him and I have one of the best surgeons in Ct. I recently had revision surgery.

Business response:

I am sorry to hear you had a poor result with your first surgery. Total ankle replacement is a complex procedure and often times requires repeat surgery. I am glad you are on the road to recovery now and wish you the best

Dr Berson was excellent with my 11 year old daughter that needed double foot surgery. I highly recommend him to anyone. Very compassionate and explained everything from the first appointment to the final checkup.
