Having lived in L.A. for about a year, I've had a tough time finding a great Indian restaurant. Lal Mirch is now at the top of my list. While it is tucked away (on Ventura) and parking is slightly hazardous in the back lot (READ: tiny lot), the food and service more than makes up for it. We arrived at 5:30pm on a Saturday night. What a perfect time to go. We pretty much had the restaurant to our selves -- full attention of the wait staff -- and excellent, piping hot food. Best yet, there's a dinner for two option (two entree... read more
Authentic Indian Cuisine, Delightful Service – Went with my mom last week on a Wednesday afternoon. After chatting with the owner for a while, we learned a lot about this establishment and I liked it even more. I'm excited that they are right around the corner from me! This place is very inconspicuously located. The best thing about Lal Mirch is their food. It is the real deal and they take pride in what they serve here. It is a family business, with pride of ownership. Go for the lunch buffet, or dinner and be sure to have ... read more
Lal Mirch is yummy! Really good indian food! When you ask for spicy they make it spicy, which is how I love to eat my indian food. The staff are very attentive, and I will definitely come back again.
Located off Ventura blvd. in studio city, First thing you notice is the Decor. Nice place to relax, owner spared no expense compared to "ALL" the others I've been too. More importantly , the FOOD is Outrageous!!! MUST TRY the Chicken Tika Marsala. The sauce is over the top :)
Fresh & Tasty Tradition – Went here for a small casual family gathering of four. First time. Was not diappointed.. Interior was welcoming, tasteful and cozy. Service was very pleasant and helpful. Classic vindaloos, kormas, and tikka masalas were not as heavy and fresher tasting than many other indian places which tend to over-cook sauces. Spice intensity is to your preference. Fried rIce was perfect. Chicken was very tender, though just a few more actual pieces would have been welcome. Although weekday room was full by 7:45... read more
Horrible hygiene !!!!!! Beware ! – I went to this place for the first time with a friend. I know what a good indian food tastes like and what is difference between real indian food and a fake one. Food is all good and tastes good but i was shocked to see a "hair" in my daal or lenticles that i ordered...the worst part was when i told the server about it...he started looking around and didn't even appologized fro it nor did the manager. Neither did they serve us anything to replace that nor did they compensated it on the bill... read more
Good Food – Check out the lava dish. If you are interested in spicy food, it is really spicy. I never had a dish like Lava before.
Best Indian Food Ever – After my first visit I was hooked. At present I go at least twice a week. The staff is curtious and the establishment is clean. The only downside is the parking, but you can easily park across the street for a quarter. I highly recomend the Chicken Tikka Masala, although I have not had a bad dish. As a word of caution the "hot" (spicy) dishes are extremely spicy.
Wow!!! Mushroom with a twist!!! – We were at this restaurant last week for our book club dinner. I had the mushroom appetizer, wow! I never tasted anything like that before, full of flavor and had a nice sweet n spicy taste to it. The soup was also very flavorful. For main dish we had the chicken birani and Shrimp coco curry a notch above the rest. Love it!! We will be there again.
