Not a pleasant experience at all. My mum was booked in for day surgery. Her specialist advised her at the last minute that she needed to stay a night, which was fine. The hospital refused to take her up to the ward post surgery until I paid for her accomodation although she had top hospital insurance cover. Even after debating with staff they refused to even look into it with the health fund and I had to pay upfront. An excellent hospital overall. Fantastic nursing care and catering staff were brilliant. One small issue: ward closed at the weekend, forcing remaining patients to be moved around. This is unsettling and I know one or two chose to go home early eather than be forced to share a room in a rehab ward. This is disappointing. One wonders if the dollars saved by closing a ward are canceled out by the patients who decided to be discharged early?
Hats off to the amazing staff. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and caring. Unfortunately, this place has to have one of the most outdated paper process system yet. In this day and age, I can't believe the amount of manual handling of paperwork involved, hats off to the staff keeping everything in check. Apart from the paperwork. Highly recommended.
My wife was the patient I am just the grumpy husband who did the waiting around. Had a call at 1:00 to get her there by 1:30 did that. After further admin then prep they say 2:30 going in 3:00 take her in. Tell me allow 2 hrs op is 1 hr. Get a call after at 5 can pick her up. Get there told will be another hour in recovery. I struggle with the lack of knowing approximately timing . My wife has been a nurse for 49 yrs I’m sure she would make excuses for the hospital.
