About Lackey Free Clinic: In 1995, Dr. Jim Shaw and his wife, Cooka, decided to answer a persistent call from God to provide free health care for the uninsured. They partnered with a local church, whose Sunday school classroom became a free clinic one night a week. There, a handful of volunteers began treating the medically disadvantaged in the Lackey community. Word of the clinic spread slowly at first. I'm so grateful for Lackey Free Clinic. With out me being able to go I would not be able to get my thyroid medication. The doctors there have also helped me with my diabetes.
My mother has multiple health issues and Lackey has been a God send to her and our family. I hope to one day be able to pay them back for what they have done for her and my step dad when he was in need. My mom speaks so highly of the staff. Ever since I started volunteering at Lackey Free Clinic I have gained not only a truly inspirational place to volunteer but friends who are all willing to serve the Lord by helping others in need.
