Popular with the entertainment industry and general public since opening in 1956, this restaurant offers casual elegance. Diners slide into comfortable red booths with crisp white linen. Caricatures and drawings of Hollywood figures line the walls. A place for all ages, the owners like to tell you that they are welcoming their third generation of customers. Though there is not a separate children's menu, kids are welcome anytime. The Veal Piccata, Whitefish and the legendary Chopped Salad are excellent choices. Valet parking... read more

I AM 81 YEARS OLD..USED TO WAIT IN LINE WHEN LA SCALA WAS ON BEVERLY DRIVE...when they moved..I followed...today 7/6 I had a doctors appointment and found out my daughter was driving in from simi valley with my grandson to eat at la scala...I told them I would not be done in time, but I was and drove and parked, calling my daugher who was seated for 2 in a large booth..restaurant was 3/4 empty at 11:45...she saw me across the street and told the waiter one more was coming...the manager came over and said I could not order...... read more
The chopped salad is the best in town. I know people who fly in for it!!!! The spaghetti bolognese is sometimes really good, sometimes amazingly good. The food is consistently good and there is a lot to choose from. Desserts can be spectacular I never had a bad meal here -- and have been coming for a decade. Once in a while though, the service gets a bit huffy and unhappy. They are not good with little kids --- I don't think they even have high chairs. But these waiters are actually trained waiters --- not actor wannabes, no... read more
This was YUMMMMMMY – I enjoyed La Scala with my former boss for lunch. Let me just say, I am glad he was picking up the bill! I had the crabcakes.. and WOW - they were amazing!! We also split bredded Mozzarella in a red sauce that was out of this world. I also had (I stuffed myself) a Tuna Salad sandwich that was so good - what a great time. The staff was friendly and it didn't take long before we were involved with some great food, bubbly water and all caught up on old times!!
Rude, arrogant and argumentative service. – Dinner on a Tuesday night. No wonder the place was empty. The service was rude, arrogant and argumentative. I ordered a glass of wine (a brand I know well, often drink at home and have had at this restaurant). Unfortunatly the wine was not good. (It tasted very odd and chemical like). Rather than politely apologize and offer to get a different glass, the waiter was arrogant and refused, claiming that that bottle had just been opened and that it was good. He refused to return to the... read more
If you want to be treated like garbage by wait staff... – I had never been here before, however, I patronize several other restaurants and in particular, the Grand Havana Room, all within a few blocks of La Scala. This afternoon, I have a business meeting at La Scala, and the waiter was the rudest I believe I ever have experienced. The Manager, when I called him over to complain, didn't do anything to correct the slight or the cause of it, and the new waitress we were assigned was barely polite, and you could tell that she w... read more
Great Chop Salads, Amazing Steaks – I have been eating here for years The food is consistently good. I am addicted to the chop salads, and their steaks are better than some of the steak houses in the area. There is a new manager that really seems to care and the servers seem to be happier than in times past. The clientele in this area can be demanding, so some consideration should be given to perceived lapses in hospitality. The bar tenders are realy friendly and fast for a quick bite at lunch without waiting for a table. I ... read more
Horrible Service & Food – Dear LA Diners, If there was ever to be a RESTAURANT POLICE and this organization had the power to revoke a restaurants ability to serve atrocious food with a side of disrespectful and patronizing service, then this organization should immediately shut down the doors of La Scala in Beverly Hills located at 434 N Canon Dr. In my 35 years of living and dining in Southern California I have never been so insulted and disgusted by a restaurant experience as I was last Friday night at La Scala. I will let... read more
La Scala - over the hill – Once a startlet, La Scala has not aged well. The food is mediocre compared to the newer and more fun Italian restaurants in the area. The staff, surly and snotty, is only eager when it comes to clearing and presenting the check. Kind of a melancholy group working a dark dingy room. The waiters leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. The chopped salad is over rated, and the pasta sauces too salty. Bad attitude abounds. There's much better food all along Canon.
Excellent - never a disappointment – Great food, excellent service, friendly staff and management. Everything here is always a joy. We love the decor. It's always a perfect experience.
