LA Fitness you are scumbags! I received a charge on my account last month for a membership fee. I haven't gone to this gym in 2 years and over the course of Covid spoke to someone on the phone multiple times about trying to get me to go back in, I said no, it just didn't seem like the right time and was told I'd be OK and I don't have to worry about cancelling... Attempted to cancel my membership before the billing cycle hit in March 2021. The gyms closed down due to COVID-19. I was notified that the billing would resume for membership and immediately contacted my local gym to cancel my membership. I called the LA Fitness located at Coldwater Canyon Ave, Sherman Oaks, CA, on March 19, 2021 to cancel. Dishonest business practices. They lied about the features available at their facility and sold me a membership while having no wifi for over a week and concealing that information from me. When I found out I canceled my membership within rescission and have a right to my full refund and they have been giving me the run around for two weeks trying not to give me back my money that they took in exchange for nothing. I cancelled my membership at the Pearland Parkway LA Fitness in January 2021. I followed all the instructions in the contract to cancel. We are now in May, I have cancelled w two other reps at La Fitness since January, and still my contract is not cancelled. I receive multiple calls and emails every week requesting payment and promises to cancel. I have had to contact my bank to stop them from auto withdrawing on my card. Cancellation policy of LA Fitness is intentionally difficult so company can reap extra profits from its members. To begin with, a new member pays an Initiation Fee plus "last month dues" - which means the company collects extra monies from its members that it will hold for years. In my case, I was a member for 12 years and relocated to a state with no LA Fitness gym. BE CAREFUL!!! I signed up with LA Fitness for a 2-year program and I REMEMBER clearly at the time of signing that the agent told me I can cancel anytime and get my refund back for the remainder of the contract. I'm moving to a different state now and requested a cancellation and guess what ... no refund for cancelling because I paid up front. FRAUD, SCAM and poor customer service. I started going to this gym in 2016 and decided I wanted to cancel around the beginning of 2018. Which I did, I canceled. When I started going I was 16, so I wasn't really set up and I had my moms credit card on the account. My mom is an older immigrant so she has some difficulty on technology, the English language, and checking her bank statement.
