What a great place! Genuine fine recipes used for generations in this family, originally from Guanajuato. Family owned for 40 years, they use healthy and fresh ingredients to make fresh and delicious sauces. Fine cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Worth a special trip.
No appreciation – I have read ALL the reviews and some seem like one time incidents handled poorly but some right on the mark!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been coming to La Cueva for 10+ years and the service has remained the same (unappreciative and cold). The mom would occassionally give dirty looks as if customers weren't welcome but I came to ignored her and continued to enjoy my food. Until about 3 years ago.I thing I love about Mexican food is the quality and price. But at La Cueva, the menu prices keep increasing but the food po... read more
Do not let the negative reviews turn you away – My family has been eating at la cueva for over 30 years, i ate guacamole there for my first time at 6 months. I love la cueva, i think of the Nunez family and some of the staff as an addition to my own family. it curdles my blood to see what these people are saying about la cueva and it's proprietors. the food is great the staff is friendly, its an independently owned restaurant thats gone from a hole in the wall to a relatively well known place with many faithful customers and... read more
Delicious! – My husband an I love La Cueva - you really can't go wrong. Try the Mole, its the best in town!!!
This is the best! This is by far the BEST mexican restaurant you can go to. We travel about 60 miles to get there. The fish and the rest of the food is great, fantastic service, great employees, beautiful restaurant. They will make you feel at home. I have been going to La Cueva for over 6 years and same with all my family members. Definitely worth the drive and time. If you are looking for a great family restaurant with fantastic food go to La Cueva.
Friend forever We have been dinning at La Cueva for over 15years. We drive 70 miles one way just to dine there. The food is the best Mexican food I have tasted in 5 states. The only disappointment that we have is that they have toned down the heat to appease the more yuppified folks that love to go there as well. You can't beat their shredded beef tacos or their re-fried beans anywhere. The red salsa and green chili is much better at dinner time when the peppers have had a chance to flavor the sauces all the way through. Sti... read more
Hot or Not? I got turned on to this place 12 years ago, and find it a treat every time I go. The Chili Rellenos are the best thing on the menu, very traditional, very yummy. Lookout, the hot green can be really hot, ask your sever if it is running hot or not. Really good, highly recommended!
Have not been back for two years – My wife and I were customers since the days when the center blue section was the restaurant. We went, faithfully every Friday. Two years ago on a Friday afternoon we arrived at La Cueva at about 4:30 PM, planning to meet our grown son and his girl friend. The restaurant was not crowded at that time so my wife and I were seated right away. We chose to wait to order until our son came but we ordered drinks. About five minutes after our drinks arrived, Molly's mother came to our table and gave... read more
Good and hot If you love traditional mexican food, this is the place for you. The chili rellenos are the best in town and the green chili has great flavor and is hot. The salsa is also very nice. I have a cookbook from the restaurant and love the recipes in it. This is my favorite mexican restaurant in the Denver area.
