Not worth it – Our experience at Kona Grill was sub-par. For starters we were sat at a tiny table next to the kitchen, other than that the ambiance of the restaurant seemed nice enough but the food was nothing to write home about. We had several different sushi choices, each was average. We also tried the diablo shrimp which was poorly described on the menu, it should have read "shrimp prepared like hot wings" and the avocado egg rolls which were very bland without the dipping sauce. Great appetizers. – My husband and I went there for lunch the other day and, as a vegetarian, I was supprised that I found such yummy things to have. My husband had the sushi, which he said was very tasty and fresh! I had a salad and the avacado eggrolls...Yummy! We'll have to venture there for dinner some night.
Not worth the money – We were there for lunch last week and we were one of the first to be seated. Our food came out late and my son's pizza was burnt. They took off the price of the pizza, but it was all really bad. We had to wait so long for food that was hardly edible. The manager knew of the situation, but only took off the price of the pizza which my son could not eat. It seems this must happen a lot. great happy hour – Get there early because it gets crowded, and has limited bar area and outdoor seating. Wine least is above average, and reasonably priced especially for happy hour. Four people walked away with a $49 tab, with one drink and ample bar menu eats for each of us. The spicey tuna, and smoke salmon maki were good but not awe inspiring. The two sake offerings are not great. The one I had was ginjo, but made in California. It had better flavor closer to room temperature instead of chilled as presented.
City Winter Wonderland – As a chain restaurant goes, the Kona is as good as any. Nice food, served with care and drinks with nothing to complain about. The best thing this place has is the patio, in the Winter. The fireplace and outdoor heaters pared with the people that wander by, make this a wonderful-wonderland. With summer coming, I'm sure the patio will offer the same great place to people watch . Denvers pretties and sports people, use the vallet parking at the edge of this patio.
