Thai food is one of the choicest cuisines in San Francisco. With the many Thai restaurants in the city, visitors and locals are always searching for something better. Koh Samui & The Monkey is among the best in town. Walking through the door, you'll feel transported to ancient Thailand. The restaurant is decorated with exquisite and rare antiques, hand picked by the owner. Servers are in traditional Thai costumes, creating an authentic atmosphere. Their fried calamari and crispy imperial rolls are excellent. There's a wide v... read more

decent, but nothing to write home about – finally made it to koh samui after reading the glowing reviews. as far as thai restaurants, it is more on the upscale end, nice decor, friendly service and bustling atmosphere. however when it came to the food it was very inconsistent. some entrees were oversalted and some were just plain bland. i tried the red-curry, asked for it extra spicey and could not believe the lack of flavor and heat when i tried the dish. thumbs up to the pad thai though as well as the tiger salad.
Stylish Inexpensive Swank Thai – great unusual ambience, luscious unusual food, wonderful plateware, snappy service, great prices, good location with find-able parking. Lot's of special events happening. Lively, bit noisy, maybe swanky, go for the non-standards. Luscious scallops, curry, appetizers...Get the desert
Worst Thai Restaurant... – One could get better Thai food in any of the Thai restaurants in the Tenderloin or on Geary. Way over priced. 3 prawns on the special in the shell which were impossible to eat without fingers. Tofu had no flavor at all. Only for Yuppies who live near Ball Park. No local would ever go there.
Very pleasant surprise! – Wanted to find something 'new' for my b-day dinner... Sat. evening, non baseball day, parking super easy... situated nicely in SoMa... entering the restaurant, you get the feeling of Thai-meets-industrial feel... but the place is very spacious... there were plenty of b-day parties going on... we were comfortably seated... the service was excellent... so attentive, the food was brought out quickly and was super! Standards such as Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong soup were excellent. Try the cold sakes! And... read more
Koh Samui...good choice. – A great place for a meal before the ball game - fresh food, delicate tast. Ask for Bee - she's the best! (and Pam, and Pat) Park early for a game, then eat in style. Great food for about what a slice of pizza costs inside the park.
Great new Thai destination – After many years looking for a good Thai food, I finally found a place to enjoy. Traditional foods found in Thailand...a great experience!
Give them a try! – We dined there last night...this restaurant is a great and welcome addition to my neighborhood! Service was attentive and food was fabulous! They had some Thai dishes I had never seen on other menus...highly recommended!
