Read some great reviews about Kirkwood and went up there to check it out last weekend. It was my first time riding in California. Don't get me wrong by my review, Kirkwood is a fun resort but it is far from deserving 5 stars. Maybe I'm just used to the great quality of Aspen/Snowmass and other Colorado resorts. I had a great time until a drunk snowboarder took me out getting off the lift. He took off. I ended up with 6 stitches. Kirkwood is beautiful and the snow was great even with the top ofbthe mountain hard packed due to the wind. Once they opened up the wind delayed chairs the lines shortened. A lot of great terrain to challenge yourself on. Remember, don't drink and ride. This is costing me $$ and my trip to Heavenly next weekend.
