Overall, this place is a solid place to live. It does have its flaws (it's an older building), but the location is amazing and the apartment is very livable. We had nice big windows in the living room! Great for a first apartment or for students. Great neighborhood for walking, eating, and general shopping, and very good spot to catch the buses. Do not rent from Union Real Estate. When tenants move out, they often attempt to charge improper fees, and their staff—MaryBeth Freund and Sande Petrone—are regularly rude and unprofessional. For those already renting, HUD’s Special Claims Processing Guide (file number HSG-06-01) may be helpful to review. While the guide does not directly control your lease, its straight-line depreciation policy (e.g., 20% per year for carpet) underscores that tenants should not be held responsible for full replacement costs. Responding all the 1 star reviews. Yeah this place has its flaws, but my room in a 3br split was $430 in a prime location on walnut! Hard to find a better value walking distance from CMU
