Delicious, mostly vegan Kingdom of Vegetarians is a veggie oasis in the city. There's no flipping to the second to last page of the menu to read the four terrible sounding bean curd vegetable dishes here - it's all vegetarian! Order dim sum by the piece or get a full meal - many items are vegan and/or kosher, and in the numerous times I've been there, I've only had one clunker. (Hawaiian something or other? I knew I shouldn't have ordered it, even as the words came out of my mouth.) Close parking and good prices make this pl... read more
Great food, great atmosphere – I used to live in Philly and went many times to Kingdom of Vegetarians. I thought the food was amazing. I am not a vegetarian but I could eat this food every day. The staff is very nice and remembers their regulars. They have great prices and a wide variety of delicious food to choose from. Always fun to go with a group and either get the dim sum or the buffet style meal. Those allow you to try a lot of different foods and at a great price. Be prepared to take home left-overs as you will get a ... read more
This kingdom needs revolution – I was on a short trip and following the rave reviews brought there my fellow colleagues, a couple vegetarians. Apart from very traditional Chinese service- rough, brisk and fast ,"cut and paste" interior design,- food was also very traditionally Chinese- plentyful, predictable, and , yes- uninspired, like in all those thousands "golden dragons","jade lotuses",and "lucky wok"'s out there.I mean, well ,it was edible but nothing to rave about.
Great Vegetarian at a great value! – If you looking for great veggie food and great service this is the place. We were just there last weekend June 23, 2007 for lunch. We decided on the Dim Sum buffet. The owner made all the selections for us and we were nothing but surprised and happy about how wonderful the food was. The price was $10/each and I have to tell you, I felt guilty about paying only $20 for such a great meal. I live in NY and this was better than I've had in Chinatown.
Best Chinese food in Philadelphia – This is the best Chinese food period in the city. I have always brought non-vegetarians to the restaurant and they all asked to come back. There is all you can eat dim sum for $10/person. I recommend bringing more than two people because the servings are huge.
Great service and food – This is the best vegetarian place. I have never eaten anything like it. There is a lot of unique food there. I like the Walnut Jumbo Imitiation Shrimp and Sesame Chicken. The service is great.
GReat Fo0d!! – omg!! this place's food is soo freaking good!! i mean the shrimp are practically the same as the real ones!!! i fell in love the shrimps n the general t'sao chicken!! this place is like heaven for the teenage vegetarians!!
Weird General Tso's – I tried this general tso's, and it was weird. The sauce was all brown and not orangish, like I'm used to, and it wasn't spicy. It smelled more like soy than anything. The chicken was deep fried like you'd get with sweet and sour chicken, some was really breaded in about a centimeter of breading. On the bright side, the broccoli was good and they served it with brown rice. But I'll stick with the General Tso's tofu at King Palace Chinese in the Andorra Shopping Center for my fix.
Chinatown's humble restaurant with a grandiose name serves vegan delights fit for a king. – In Short Long known as a haven by vegetarians, this Chinatown restaurant has been serving kosher and vegan delights with amazing consistency since 1994. The narrow little space is serene and simple with pictures of pandas and storks on the walls, silk flowers and cantaloupe-colored linens on the tables. The expansive menu features dim sum, soups, imitation pork, chicken, seafood and beef entrees, plus vegetable dishes and fried rice.
Kingdom of Vegetarians Restaurant has a 4.4 star rating with 37 reviews.
