Having opened its doors in 2014,Killen's Barbecue is a highly popular local hot spot serving Texas style barbecue. The no-frills restaurant concentrates more on food than ambiance as can easily be witnesses by the contrast of the utilitarian set-up and the perfectly-cooked, slow-grilled dishes. Come in early before the food runs out and have your fill of pulled pork, brisket, rubs and smoked sausages. You can try out the full variety of meat options with their six meat plate or simply get a sandwich for a light lunch.

The taste is excellent, but sausage casing is very, very tough to cut or chew.

Thanks for your feedback.
Finally had the opportunity to try and see what all the Hype is about... wasn't disappointed, but I have to say, it's too much hype. 1 of the Top 5 joints in Houston. I would recommend and try again. Wouldn't wait more than 15-20min in line. Their are other BBQ joints that are better with no wait in my opinion. Brisket & Ribs were tender and moist, not too much smoke... almost like they cooked in the oven. Definitely not Franklins BBQ, that is totally worth the wait.
We finally were able to eat at Killen's yesterday. It was the best barbecue I have ever had. The brisket melted in my mouth. The peach cobbler was also by far the best I ever had. I definitely want to go back and try their beef ribs. For the price, it was definitely worth the visit.

Glad to hear. Thanks, Patrick!
We go a couple times a month.Usually crowded but food is good and a variety of barbecue. We love the brisket and get a few pork ribs with a Bud Light.Good for me.Clint Reccomended Killen's 2 years ago.We still visit Pappa's Barbecue at Monroe also.
I would give it a 5 but they were out of Pulled Pork and Smoked Turkey. The brisket, ribs, and Jalapeño sausage were amazing. They could not be better. That was some of the best bread pudding I have had. We have gone to a number of BBQ places around the Houston and Galveston areas and this was the best!
We were eager to visit, stood in line on a hot day. After visiting other establishments that offer chilled water to the line, disappointed that wasn't the case here. We knew what we wanted (from visiting the website) however staff was very flustered and rushed everyone along. Unfortunately BBQ was nothing special and did not "melt in the mouth". We still enjoy Ronnie's burger joint however we will not be patronizing this one again.
Went on a Tuesday around noon, wasn't too busy.. it was very good but not the best brisket in town. The pecan pie & Mac/Cheese was more exciting than the meat!
