Implant. I was not informed that the tooth implanted has an 80% failure rate and is not generally recommended for implants. Then discovered I was charged about double the going rate for an implant. He made every attempt to give me a good implant as near as I could tell. Due to his failure to explain the risk of failure with this tooth and his exorbitant price, I cannot recommend Dr. Ken Abe. If I had it to do over, I would get three quotes from highly recommended implant doctors before deciding on this procedure.

I have been going here for over 13 years and have never been unhappy. A bit pricier, but well worth it. Now I take my wife and kids here too.

Dr. Abe performed a gum graft at the base of one of my front teeth and pocket reduction around some back molars. I have no issue with the quality of Dr. Abe's work based on my experience but I felt dissatisfied with the customer experience overall because of the high cost of consultations and treatment and because payment is always expected in full at time of service. Dr. Abe's office staff is knowledgable and excellent at explaining procedures, costs and providing quick billing through insurance companies. Dr. Abe is very calm and brilliant at solving dental issues. He is kind and caring about causing as little pain as possible. His dental implant process offers the most accurate means of tooth replacement. The office atmosphere is pleasant with friendly assistance and extremely clean/organized facilities.

Although Dr. Abe was very pleasant and seemed to give a thorough examination, I was unhappy that he did not outline all the possibilities to me. He also made the treatment he suggested I receive sound like an emeregency, in that I needed my tooth removed right away, and he insisted I receive proceedures such as bone grafts, which 2 other dental professionals, including the Dental Clinic at UCSF, thought to be excessive as my gums were perfectly healthy with no pockets or significant bone loss observed. I think he is a great periodontist and microsurgeon for treating periodontal disease, bone grafts, and all the related procedures. He is not cheap, but at least you know with Dr. Abe you are in good hands. I appreciate the way he explains what he is doing or intends to do, and he offers facts and options to help me make decisions about treatment. Dr Abe quickly diagnosed an infected tooth and laid out my options together with a clear treatment plan. He explained everthing clearly and his staff was very cordial, supportive and helpful.
