Kick back on the Kennebec Located on the banks of the Kennebec River, the Kennebec Tavern pairs tasty seasonal fare with a front seat view of the sparkling waterfront. Centuries ago, the Abenaki gave the Kennebec River its name, which means "long level water." In the 17th century, sailors called Bath?s three-mile stretch of river the "Long Reach," as it provided deep anchorage and good landing sites, and allowed them to sail the stretch without tacking. Food and drink were perfect. Looking over the Kennebec River on a summer day in Maine is the best.
It was a ' vacationland first day of summer' on their beautiful deck, and the food totally completed the perfect lunch! The menu offered something for everybody, and our server was gracious, well informed and a great addition to their "Kick back on the Kennebec" staff! We've been customers for many, many years, and will continue to be for many more.
Great location with their outside deck for waterfront dining, but food quality not great, service is hap-hazard and their mixed drinks ok. There are better places for dining.
Great food, large portions, fast and super friendly service. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Fantastic views. Accessible by water or by road. Perfect!
I was just cut off because a friend defended a bartender who was called a homophobic slur. That man was served alcohol, we were served water.
Business response:
Hi, firstly, I would like to be clear and say we do not tolerate that kind of language in our establishment. Similarly, I would ask you to please reconsider your use of that word on our page. We appreciate your concern, but the bartender in question knew the individual very well and is capable of handling those kinds of situations without outside assistance. Sometimes the situation escalates needlessly when too many parties get involved.
21 people from our hiking adventure showed up thirsty and hungry and we were NOT disappointed. We sat on the deck overlooking the river, sunny and shady areas both available. The menu was excellent, hard to make a decision. I chose a haddock Reuben and sweet potatoe fries. It was delicious. The staff was friendly and efficient. I heard only positive comments on the food, service and the staff. Looking forward to my next visit there.
Love fried fish but decided to try Haddock broiled. It did not taste fresh and had no seasoning. The backed potato was over cooked and small. The food looked fine but I was disappointed with the taste. They had fried fiddleheads and they looked and tasted good. They only had a couple of other customers at 7pm on a rainy Wednesday evening so that should have been a warning. Wanted to rate it a 4 but my wife did not like the fish taco's so rated it a 3.
Great burgers, the summer is the best time to go. Sit outside, order nachos and a burger.
