About this business

For more than a 100 years, this huge cafeteria-style Jewish deli has been delighting New Yorkers with their pastrami and brisket sandwiches alongside their scrumptious "kosher-style" meals. The humble eatery, with Formica tables lined up in rows, may not be the ideal place to take a date (unless you want to remind him or her of eating in a school lunchroom), but if you are craving a giant sandwich served with perfect pickles or a couple of kosher hot dogs, there is perhaps no better place than Katz's in the city. 1.) Yes, that slice of pastrami they leave on the counter is for you 2.) Always tip your cutter 3.) Order the pastrami on rye 4.) ... with a side of homemade pickles

Oldest standing deli in NYC, and considered by many to be the very best. (It vies with 2nd Ave Deli for that honor.)

Worth at least one visit. Touristy and always busy. It’s like walking into a time machine back to the 1960s. Ask for a sample before ordering! Pay on your way out, so don’t lose your ticket.

Hasn't changed in forever, other than the prices. Pastrami is always on point, although the rye wasn't as solid or salty as it should be. Always love the coleslaw here

Overpriced, wait is way too long, sandwichs are way too big and not even that good.

An NYC pop culture classic, try the pastrami sandwich. Ask for the When Harry Met Sally table.
