Edit: Kasa responded and claimed that they issued an $80 refund. At the time that I write this there is no refund on my card. This looked like a pretty sweet deal on Booking.com. I needed a place to stay for a quick night near UPenn, and this looked like it would fit the bill. The "Virtual Front Desk" seemed like it would be just fine, so I booked the room. I stayed at Kasa The Niche University City in Philadelphia for two nights, and unfortunately had a very uncomfortable experience. During my stay, the weather was extremely hot, and the room temperature reached 81°F. However, the air conditioning was locked in “heat” mode and could not be adjusted. I contacted the virtual front desk multiple times by phone, email, and text, but initially received incorrect troubleshooting instructions.
