One of THE BEST Japanese restaurants EVER!!! My condolences to Faith & her son Wayne in the temporary loss of Kamakura. Our family and friends love coming to your restaurant, my mother frequented Kamakura more than 2 times a week.
I've been going here since my parents would bring me as a baby. It's still as great as it used to be, and I make it a point to visit every time I'm back in town, even all the way from New York!
My wife and I went there for the first time tonight and both the food and service was excellent! We were given a delightful appetizer or small nigiri chunks in a creamy lemon sauce with fermented cucumber slices. Our sushi was top notch, served up within minutes and my wife even shared a beer with me (which she never does). Food is fresh and tasty. The best Miso Soup around
When we lived in San Francisco, we'd cross the bridge to have dinner at Kamakura. Living in Alameda, we visited all the more often. Now, thousands of miles away, we remember it well and visit whenever we can... Sushi, sliced oranges and plum wine, no matter the source, always bring us the memory of Kamakura and Faith... I go there all the time. The service is wonderfu and welcoming. Ms. Faith is the best hostess. The food is the freshest brought in everyday. The ambiance is so fitting. Love it.
