I found myself lucky enough to be referred to Dr. Maykel at UMASS Memorial after a decade long reoccurrence of diverticulitis. I can't speak highly enough of Dr Maykel and his entire team at UMass. My husband came to Dr Maykel about 2 months ago, and he was in terrible shape - advanced diverticulitis that had caused an abscess, plus a fistula between the colon and bladder. He was in agony and his quality of life has not been good for years now. Dr Maykel knew exactly what he was going to do, he explained it to us, and he fixed my husband. Wonderful bedside manor. Dr Maykel was informative and attentive. Facilities were extremely comfortable and clean. All of the staff members were helpful and knowledgeable. Best place I've received care in a very long time.
