Just Dinner on Dunlavy is Houston's most intimate BYOB. We are located in a charming bungalow in the heart of Montrose. We have a true passion for food, you can taste it in every bite. We source from our own organic garden for inspiration. We shop daily from a variety of markets for the freshest produce and seafood. Our waitstaff is attentive and warm, they are happy to suggest pairings for your wine. We would love to cook for you. You bring the wine and the good company, we'll take care of the rest.

I had a party of 8 people there last Saturday and have to say all of us really enjoyed it. The wait staff was very attentive and was able to keep the group moving so the evening was not too long. It was my second time there so I knew what to expect. Six of the people were new to the restaurant and their comment was how much they liked how quaint it is. Like other people have said the menu is not large, but keep in mind how small this place is. I don't know the exact seating capacity, but it is not much. The kitchen is very s... read more
Intimate Dining in the Heart of Montrose – Why You'll Love It: *Intimate dining for any occasion *Upscale fare and BYOB *Secluded Montrose location *Delicious food and it’s BYOB. Once upon a time, passersby were intrigued by a little Montrose cottage marked only by a neon blue “1915.” Today, the secret’s out and Houstonians flock to this hidden gem for hearty comforts. Cannelloni Florentine pairs exquisitely with crab cakes and ratatouille. An exclusive prix fixe dinner highlights inspired dishes ranging from braised short r... read more
My First Visit...Loved it!!! – I had heard about Just Dinner, but had not tried it. We went last night to celebrate my birthday. It is in an old house and I found it to be totally charming. It is not easy to spot after dark, but it is next to the parking lot for The Guild on Dunlavy. There are no signs saying that you can park in the Guild lot, but the wait staff assured us that you can. My friend had the brie soup to start and said that it was almost a religious experience. I had the wedge salad and it was fresh and good. S... read more
My Favorite Restaurant! – Just Dinner is amazing! Andrew the owner is friendly and warm and the atmosphere is cozy and unique. It is a small, intimate restaurant and you must have reservations to eat here! I had the best Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola. My husband had one of the delicious pasta dishes. We were very happy and we felt the food was definitely worth the price. We love the fact that it is BYOB! I love going to Just Dinner anytime we have ANYTHING to celebrate! The person who wrote negatively about it obviously has i... read more
It was so relaxing – We planned to meet up with some old friends and have dinner. Once arriving at their house we proceeded to the restaurant. I had not been to Just Dinner but it was a favorite of friends and they said we would be impressed. When arriving, the owner showed us to our table. He took the wine we brought and came back with glasses and poured the wine. After an hour of visiting we decided to order. The menu was not large but plenty to make a choice. The atmosphere was relaxing and very comfortable to make catchi... read more
Friendly, Relaxing and Good Food Too – I read the previous review and could not believe it was the same place i have come to know and love, so I went back to make sure. The menu is slowly changing and improving and some of my favorites like the rabbit have disappeared, but the pasta with shrimp and artichoke hearts is sufficiently good to replace it. Andrew and his wife still make everyone feel welcome and give as much time as they can whenever it is not too busy, and both are always delighted to take a sip of a wine you mig... read more
Paradise Lost – We recently ate at Just Dinner for the first time in months. In the past we had no complaints, but this last visit completely altered our opinion of the place. First of all the food has not changed in the year and a half since its opening. Even the nightly specials are exactly the same. Though we?d like to see some changes there, we never wanted anything else to change. Unfortunately, for everyone, it has. The service was formulaic and lacked character, which honestly ruined our whole experience. For us, it w... read more
I made the mistake of waiting to the last minute to try and get a reservation on Satrurday night. As Andrew the owner says, it's a teni tiny restaurant and fills up quick. So with a weeks notice we finally got in. Oh, what a wonderful little restaurant. Cozy, romantic, friendly. Having it be BYOB is the best. The food was very generous with it's portions. We had gazpacho straight from Andrew's garden in the back. I had rainbow trout with parmasean risotto. My date had the roast, everything was so delicious!' Everyone is very... read more
Just not good enough! – Update to the previous review. We've now been banished from Just Dinner. The Chef/Owner has asked our friends to never bring us back after reading our review below. This is not a problem. We would rather patronize a chef who prefers feeding people more than his own ego. We willl happily spend our exile at Lucio's.................... Went with friends that love the place. Had reservations for a tasting dinner @ $50 each. Pricey, but bringing our own wine thought it would be worth it. They put us in the... read more
