Dr Aferzon preformed (2) spinal fusions on me. One in 2016 and the XLIF was in March 2017. My spinal cord (dura) was directly cut, "accidentally" when opening me from the front. They repaired it, “wrapped it, sewed it” once they realized the CSF leak. I also had (2) artificial discs implanted and that is the 3 stars above ⬆️ I ended up with left “foot drop”, and adhesive arachnoiditis . That minuses 2 stars off to give him 3. Dr Aferzon has done all 13 surgeries on my mother's back and has gone to bat for her on multiple occasions. The ladies in the office are amazing , beautiful people as well. He is #1 neurosurgeon in CT and #3 in the whole country. One of the few doctors who actually cares about their patients on a case to case matter. They repaired it, but my room filled with doctors at 2am, asking me if I knew where I was. Every time they stood me up, my heart rate skyrocketed. Absolutely love this doctor. I'm happy with all he has done for me and my back, that has taken beating after beating from years of lifting, repositioning, and securing the safety of the patients I'm responsible for. I find him honest, forthcoming, and easy to talk to.
