I highly recommend Neurosurgeon Dr Jonathan Couch at Mercy health Lourdes Hospital if you have back issues. He’s got a caring spirit, is excellent at his craft and takes whatever time you need to explain what’s going on. His PA Tiffany Cates is a great part of the team and is a great communicator and knows what she is doing. We are fortunate to have such qualified medical providers in western Kentucky!! I had a VNS placement put in back in August and Dr. Couch's team was the absolute best. I have seen several neurologists before and he is one of the best I have ever seen. He makes you feel like you are important and gets personal with you but is also very professional. I have nothing but great things to say about both him and Tiffany Cates.

I had lower back surgery with fusion, spacers and screws snd some other spine repairs., Dr Couch and Tiffany Cates, his nurse practitioner are excellent. They have great bedside manners, answer questions so you can understand and they fully keep up with your health care history and read reports before they meet with you, unlike some doctors who don’t fully read them until they get into the room. Since my surgery numbness, my walking has improved. I am no longer tripping. My weakness has improved tremendously. This surgery has been really helpful. He spends time with you and explains everything and answers any questions you have and doesn't treat you like you're just a number.
I was seen by other providers in area for same problem and got no results. Dr Couch was able to see me the same day! He saw the problem immediately and scheduled my surgery urgently (within a couple days). He is concerned and shows genuine interest in solving the problem. He listened and had a plan. I have not had a doctor, of any sort, in a very long time, go to the efforts he did. He let me know what to expect before and after surgery. I felt comfortable calling the office with any concern.
