This man is a legend.. I'm 70 f and a Oakland native..I remember all the boys going to get waves from Joe..He was on San Pablo before Louis Lot...Where is Dancing comb drive or Hammer Plaza or MC road..

This place is definitely still open. While Joe may no longer be in the prime of his hair-cutting days, his hands have the muscle memory of a man that has spent his life cutting hair. His stories and personality alone are worth the visit, and the haircut almost seems secondary after getting a fine trim. Remember to bring cash and to plan for a longer than usual cut. The price is unbeatable and the experience is unforgettable.

This place appears closed until you walk in and Joe is sitting there reading a paper. Although rundown and cluttered you can tell by the framed newspaper articles featuring a younger Joe, and the family photos on the wall this is a wholesome barber shop and Joe knows what he is doing. I just needed a quick trim and I’ll tell you what Joe did a great job. Cash only - he let me go to the atm nearby and come back. Only $10 which was more than fair.
