Horrible greens – Played about 2 weeks ago. Will not be going back. Greens in horrible shape I couldnt belive they charged full price. I think just chaging cart fee MIGHT be reasonable for some people but not for me. Also Jimmy Clay is not in the best shape either. Fairways are very hard and some of the greens are not in the best shape either. Dont know what the point was closing the course for nearly a year other than moving some holes around .They made it in worse playing condition. did not improve anything. Plenty of stan... read more
A tricky public course with plenty of watery obstacles. – In Short Named after the longtime superintendent for the city's public courses, Kizer was designed by Randolph Russell of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Kizer opened in November 1996 as a companion course to the adjacent Jimmy Clay Golf Course, an Austin stalwart. The course was built on the former waste-water treatment facility site. Greens Need Work – Nice links style course. Distances look longer than actually are. Can easily cross fairways if not familiar with hole layout. Greens needs work though. Looked beat up on 7/20/04. Didn't get a true roll on the front 9. Ran out of time for the back 9 on sunset rate. Easy to get on during weekday evenings. Probably a bear on weekends.
Best in town – A beautiful golf course offering a good challenge to all levels of golfers. Pace of play, value, challanges, staff, and course conditions are rarely equaled by private clubs. The only drawback this course has, as do all other municipal courses, is the ease of getting a tee time.
Need to Play! – I really enjoy playing Kiser. It is a very interesting course that keeps getting more enjoyable and challenging every time. With all the water and wildlife, just being on the course is exceptionally tranquil.
how a muni course.... – can keep such plush fairways and greens is beyond me, but Kizer pulls it off. I love playing this course, especially in the conditio that it is currently in. The recent rains have certainly helped. Kizer is a popular course, so be prepared for a 4.5 hour to possibly 5 hour round.
