Open since 1975, this Austin establishment has been a mainstay on the fine dining scene ever since. The complimentary valet service, charming Clarksville neighborhood setting, and exquisite cuisine prepared by expert chef Larry McGuire has this place constantly buzzing with activity. The imaginative menu will have your mouth watering as you try to decide between a bone-in New York strip steak or Akaushi ribeye and whether or not you want to top it with garlic confit and rosemary butter or béarnaise sauce. Fantastic – Its always a treat to go there. Love the oysters on yucca chips. I enjoy it the most with a larger table.
Not impressed – I hoped I would be in for something special and left almost laughing at what I was served. Expensive does not equal good, people. I was in a party of seven and everyone's food had something wrong with it. Medium rare lamb means burnt outside and raw inside. Nice. The duck (dry) and shrimp (under cooked) was pretty poor for a staple menu item. The dessert, however, was outstanding, so I will give them that. Overall, the dining experience feels crowded and offputting. Save your money and go someplace that doesn... read more
Perfect Night! From the setting to the wine to the meal, everything about Jeffrey's was perfect. I can't wait to go back.
AWSOME – We went here last Tuesday night and the place was packed. Between the four of us, we had two ducks, the lamb, and the beef. All were reported to be wonderful. Service is not what it used to be, water/drink re-fill was a little slow and we didn't get a second bread basket, but the Chocolate Cake thing is to die for as well as the sea scallops. If you want something specific from the menu, make sure to call to see if they have it.
Too many ingredients – The food here isn't bad, it's just that Jeffrey's seems to suffer from the to many ingredients problem. That is they just have to many ingredients in every dish and all the ingredients tend to run together, since they all have similar flavor. The fried oysters are good and the duck rocks.
Time Tested – This resturant has been the best in Austin for as long as I can remember. The food and ambiance has remained consistently outstanding throughout the years and the service us unparalled. The menu us always changing and is top quality, food presentation and wine list are outstanding.
Jeffrey's in Austin – Jefferey's is one of the better restaurants I've been to around Austin. We always have the same waiter who knows my family. Service is always prompt, and the food is always wonderful. Definitely my favorite nice restaurant in or around Austin.
Hype – If romantic is going to a resaurant to pay too much with hopes of seeing someone "important" - this might be the romantic spot for you!
I keep hoping to love Jeffrey's – After going to Jeffrey's numerous times over the last 7 years I feel compelled to write a review. The food and service are definitely good but certainly not as great as everyone wants to believe. My feeling is that if you are going to spend a lot of money on a dining experience the space (interior) that you are dining in should be reflective of the food being presented. Basically, good food, good service but not exactly an interesting space to eat your food. Get a new interior that reflects ... read more
