The food is easily a 5-star. (JBJ's chef contributes to menus) Community kitchen means a casual setting where strangers dine together - not a fancy 5-star but a great-feeling, good-eatin' place where it seems - for this brief interlude - all is right in the world.
From Melbourne Australia. We made a trip from NY to NJ just to eat here. I had the mixed green salad with soul kitchen vinaigrette , and the roast chicken with potatoes and veggies. All of it was delicious. I will be back 1 day well worth it.
We were at the Soul Kitchen for dinner on July 12th - I have wanted to stop by since you opened - My favorite part of the meal was the pear soup - loved it - I will be back :)

I had the most delicous Butternut Squash soup and the service was terrific. If I didn't live in CA now I would visit more often! It is always on my list to visit when I come back to visit Jersey.

I have been wanting to visit Soul Kitchen for a long time and I finally got to on 6/27/14. The visit was wonderful, the food was fabulous, the service was outstanding! I think it is awesome what everyone does there, I wish I lived closer so I could volunteer. Thanks for everything you all do!
