Dr. Herrera was very thorough with explaining showin the CT results and surgery. He member appears to be rushed and has a caring manner. I do prefer seeing dr.herrera vs a physician assistant after a surgery. Guess I'm picky.
Dr Herrera was wonderful. His knowledge, care and compassion put me at ease. I would be extremely confident and trusting if I ultimately needed surgery for my hernias. Swedish is very fortunate to have him one the team!

Dr. Herrera and his surgery team performed an emergent exploratory surgery in 2020 finding it necessary to remove my large colon and add an ileostomy. At the same time, I was in severe septic shock. I credit Dr. Herrera and his surgery team with saving my life. Dr. Herrera is caring, shows compassion for his patients, and is a highly skilled surgeon. Very good had my Gastric Sleeve done in 2017 an I haven’t had any problems.
Dr Herrera completed 4 procedures on me (2006 and 2013) of which 3 had issues, one of which was extremely serious. I would never let him touch me again, nor would I recommend him. To be fair, he was my sister’s surgeon as well with no issues at all. However, with me, I’m sorry but 3 strikes and you are out! He is likable but that’s not enough when my health is at issue. I realize mistakes happen but 3 “mistakes” on the same patient is completely unacceptable.
I love Dr. Herrera. He has done a few surgeries for me. My most recent was a sleeve procedure. I’m 8 months post op and feeling better than I have in years.
My mother got breast cancer at the age of 75 and she suffers from severe anxiety and I in turn had to control my emotions so my other would not feed off me and make her anxiety even worse. Dr Herrera treated my mother with such care and compassion, he listened to her comforted her and reassured her. Yesterday he informed us he will be leaving and for the first time my mother thanked him for what he has done for her,Dr. Herrera thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for all you have done!!
I highly recommend Dr Herrera if you need surgical repair of hernias. I recently had Dr Herrera repair my hernias with a very successful outcome. The office, pre-surgery, surgery at St Vincent's Riverside, and post surgery experiences exceeded my expectations. 5 Stars !
