This Doctor is a complete “non-starter” when it comes to surgery on one’s spine. I had him fuse L4&5 that ended in more complications. After going through additional treatment and painful epidurals, he simply washed his hands of me and would not see me anymore. As a side note, if you have back problems that may require surgery, do not utilize anyone on the Western Slope.
This guy is basically the documentary series of Dr death. Spine surgeon who messed up so many peoples spines!!
It’s important we give credit when people deserve it and Dr James Gebhard has earned credit. Credit for partially severing my L4 which as a result I have chronic nerve damage & have lost all feeling in my right foot. A massive dangerous infection which he denied was serious & was just at the “flesh” level. Later resulting in a 2nd surgery and 16 weeks total in bed. Nurse assist was interested in defending the doctor Not helping patient
Dr. Gebhard is a kind compassionate person as well as a terrific surgeon. I had surgery performed by him last year and am getting ready for another surgery soon. I would not consider having anyone else perform the complicated surgery ahead. His assistant Todd is exceptional. The staff is superb.
I had a laminectomy procedure done from Dr. Gebhard in October. He explained the procedure and everything went as planned. Community hospital was wonderful with caring staff and good food! I highly recommend Dr. Gebhard.

I have battled lower back problems for years always putting off the inevitable, surgery. After talking to several friends and Drs in the medical field I set up an appointment with Dr Gebhard. In short it was the best decision I ever made. After two short weeks I am feeling better than I have in years. Back to golf at age 76 thanks to this true professional that really does care and follows thru with his promises. Surgery was an outstanding success as was the treatment at Community Hospital.
Dr. Gebhard gave me my life back. There is no question that he allowed me to be active without dramatic pain when other doctor's said I had no options. He performed a difficult and complex surgery with better results than I thought I would be able to expect. I could not be more grateful.
