We were very excited about one of the rental properties Mr. Owens was managing. Mr. Owens seemed nice enough and assured us that he managed hundreds of properties all over the city and that he had been in the business for 30 years. We were actually sitting in his office, our deposit in hand, reading over the lease and ready to sign it when we began to feel uneasy. AVOID -- James D Ownes is beyond rude and un-professional. Never in my life has a broker acted is such odd and nasty ways. Be very careful when dealing with this company.

DO NOT RENT- He will do anything he can to lawyer you into $ – I was so excited about renting in this area. I have been on my own since I was 17 and have never had a problem with paying rent or renting properties..until I rented with this management. I followed all the details in my lease down to professionally having the carpet cleaned (even though the carpet was fine when I moved) and having it exterminated (no bugs..but it was in the lease as a precautionary which was fine to me) I gave the management over 60 days written... read more

Very pleased w/ service - recommend him to any prop owner – A friend recommended JDOwens property management after he had some bad experiences with other firms. Having been very unsatisfied with my previous rental management, I gave James a try. Have been very happy with resulting service for 3 years.....head and shoulders above other company I used. Communicative, professional, quick to rectify occasional mistakes.

RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISHONEST! – Mr. Owens is extremely rude! He called me while I was at work and when I answered the phone he didn't greet me at all, instead he yelled at me because he assumed that I did not follow through with a part of my lease agreement. When I replied to him telling him that I did fulfill the agreement and that I was at work and I would call him back, he didn't hear me because he was still barking at me over the phone so I decided to hang up. Best Property Manager I have found – I chose JD Owens after having considerable problems getitng my house leased with another agency. Owens communications are prompt, reports are prompt, fees are reasonable. Most importantly he finds good tenants and does so quickly. I found him through the recommendation of a friend who had similar problems and was similarly pleased to find an honest, reliable agent.

Extremely unprofessional – There were miscommunications and bungled encounters from the get go. I found the property for rent, submitted an application and was approved. Even before I saw the lease I was told to send deposit and first month's rent. I wrote a check and mailed it (I had not moved to TX). I was then called and told that this funds had to be provided by a money order, and asap, a detail not mentioned earlier. Worst Landlords – Never gave notice when showing the house, sent rude emails about rent that hadn't been paid when we had already made payments. They are also verbally rude via phone calls or face to face. If he is your landlord you will be nothing more than a street number and check to him. I am glad I moved!

Old Fashion service. – I have rented through this company for the past 4 yrs and have found them to be honest and fair. They have have a great staff working for them.
