Came for the famous clam chowder - and it did not disappoint! Delicious x

My latest foray to Jake’s in Portland was a mild disappointment. The oysters, what can you say, they’re wonderful and fresh. But the clam chowder had an odd sour component in the palate. My wife agreed but thought it was not worth mentioning. It was only the next day that it dawned on me the chowder was old and had started to turn. Lactic acid must have been the slightly sour flavor. The appetizer was very good. The wife’s food was excellent, the service was very good, and so were the drinks. The only shortcoming was my entree, it sounded better on the menu than it tasted. Going to try a different entree next time!

We want to give a huge shout out to our server who was excellent last night, Friday, May 4th.(She was with the Ian and Claire celebration group) She did an incredible act of kindness by running us down over a block and returning over $200 that had fallen out of my brother's pocket!!! WOW! thanks!!!

First time out in Portland and WOW!!! This place is awesome!! Food was excellent!! Jake’s chowder, mussels, and Dungeness crab and Bay shrimp stuffed Pacific Salmon were amazing!! Staff was great as well. Will definitely come back when I’m in town!!
