Emerging from the alcoholic waves of post-Prohibition activity, Jack Fry's tavern opened up way back in 1933. Mr. Fry closed the original incarnation of the restaurant in 1972 and it changed hands for a few years until it re-opened with the same moniker in 1987. The new owner (a former waitress at old Jack's) still pays homage to the man with his old horse racing pictures and other sports memorabilia hanging on the walls. Consistently FANTASTIC food with prompt but casual service. "Fine" dining without being stuffy or pretentious. Definitely our favorite place to eat in Louisville and we eat out a lot. Highly recommend the oysters with grits, beet salad and pork chop!
Amazing all around. Food, service and ambiance. Comparable to any of the better NYC restaurants without the pretentiousness. Will definitely get back there when in town...
Jack Fry’s is a must do every time I come to Louisville Their pork chop is the world’s best.
I thought that I knew who had the best filet in town. I was wrong! The first bite of a Jack Fry's filet is pure heaven. It melts in your mouth like butter. It's a MUST HAVE, you will not be disappointed at all! Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. I am a forever fan!
