I’m a physician. I brought him my 73 year old mother who had a subendocardial Heart attack from the pain. She had lost control of her bowel which is called a caída equina. He did surgery and the morning after she had NO pain. God bless your eyes and hands.
Dr. Houten preformed 5 level decompression surgery on my lower lumbar in Nov. 2019. I visited 7 surgeons before choosing Dr. Houten. I did my research and found out through various sources that at Montefiore where he had been for 10 years that the surgeons went for their surgery with him and that he was very highly recommended. My experience with Dr. Rhee was not a positive one & I would not recommend her to anyone. I waited an hour to be seen (understandable during Covid for cleanliness), but I was sent to FOUR different rooms to sit in while I waited for the doctor. Seemed VERY unnecessary and not sanitary. She came off very rude & brushed off the visit. This doctor has a "professional burnout." He is not listening to you. He will not let you ask questions. Talking rudely. He's trying to joke, but the jokes are very stereotyped and not appropriate. You will not feel confident and comfortable.

Dr. Choueka is amazing. His office staff was wonderful. Dr. Choueka saw me right away and immediately identified a serious injury to my finger that I had not believed was so severe. He quickly tended to the injury and kept me calm throughout the entire procedure. I would would wholeheartedly recommend anyone with a hand injury to see Dr. Choueka.
Great Surgeon.My follow up appointment haven't been exactly an easy task.Ive been making my own appointment for follow up imaging and have been denied by my insurance company they have requested more info from Dr.Yuri who is Dr Silvers assistance and is monitoring my Condition.But Dr Yuri hasn't responded to me or my insurance company.
Dr Houten has been an amazing physician. My brother was transferred to his care due to a urgent matter involving his cervical spine. He was unable to walk or move his arms. Dr Houten performed emergency surgery and informed me every step of the way. I received a call at 2 am informing me that it was a success. Less than 12 hours after surgery he is able to move all 4 limbs. He has saved my brother from becoming a paraplegic. I could not be more grateful. There is still a long way for recovery but he has been a gift.
I had my surgery in 2005 done by Dr Houten. The results were excellent Now it's 2019.
