There's Jacala, and then there's everybody else – The other reviewers are spot-on. I lived in San Antonio from the late 1960s until about 10 years ago, and I can tell you with authority: BETTER TEX-MEX FOOD DOES NOT EXIST ANYWHERE, AT ANY PRICE! Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Since 1949, family-owned and operated restaurant serves puffy tacos, spinach quesadillas, shrimp enchiladas, refried beans and rice with margaritas.
Margaritasssssssssss!!!!!! – It was a pleasant dining experience. The service was fast and friendly and the margaritas have a good buzz factor. The $14.99 pitcher was just enough for my friend and I. Jacala has expanded the dining area and has enough room for parties.
The Best Food and Service in Town........ – We decided to take a trip to San Antonio Labor day weekend. After fighting traffic the whole way from Houston, we were starving. I remember someone talking about this fabulous restaurant by the name of Jacala on West Avenue. Absolutely the best! – I am always searching for the best Mexican food, and believe me if you are a food purist, this place cannot be beat! Perfection-no frills-none needed-just plain great food. The only thing I didn't like, is that I didn't find it a long, long time ago. Service and price just an added plus.
