Applebee's food in great atmosphere. – I went to J Alexanders for total of 2 times. I went there when it first opened, and the food was GREAT. so after about 5 years or so, I expected similar quality of food. I guess the owner changed or something (obviously since the whole menu changed.)because the food was really......applebee-ish. Not So Sure – I work in the restaurant industry and go out to eat at least twice a week. When I wait on my tables I make sure that my guests are satisfied and I didn't feel that way at all at J. Alexanders. I am so incredibly disappointed in everything (besides their wonderful martini I had). Our server Jeff treated us different from every other table around us. Yupscale American eats in a stylish setting in chi-chi Rookwood Commons. – The Scene Ya gotta admit, the place looks classy. Sleek dark wood and subtle lighting create a tasteful, comfortable atmosphere. Very nice, as long as you don't land a table with a view of the under-construction parking deck. The Food Appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees sound good on the menu, but sometimes fall short on the plate. Excellent food and service – There is a variety on their menu from burgers, pasta, fish to steaks. The food is excellent and always prepared to your specifications. J's trains all their staff and it shows. The wait staff are friendly and very knowledgeable regarding their menu as well as their wines and cocktails. Amazing Food – My husband and I stopped by for a Sunday lunch. He ate half of a very delicious chicken and I had an amazing Prime Rib. We spent the rest of the day (ok, the week) telling everyone we saw how much we enjoyed it. We both also had the Potato Soup which was possibly the best Potato Soup I may have ever had... The service was very good as well.

Romantic and fun – The steak here is amazingly juicy. Great wine, great service. Good place to hang with good company.
So many good restaurants - why waste your time. – Food is average although J Alexander's thinks it is outstanding. This is overpriced for what it is. They do not take reservations and you can wait for an hour on Fridays. Once you get your table you expect the food to be worth your wait, but are let down. Don't waste your time on this one.
Classy – My fiance and I were on vacation and stopped at Alexander's for dinner. He had been there before but I had not. He wanted to treat me and it was a wonderful vacation treat! Comfortable atmosphere, ample attention, and the food was delicious - the presentation, freshness, and preparation were all superb. We went to the Memphis/Germantown location and we live in Little Rock. We'll be back!!
